ABOUT THE FLETCHER JONES FOUNDATION
Fletcher Jones was the co-founder of Computer Sciences Corporation. The Fletcher Jones Foundation, which was created from his personal estate in 1969, has absolutely no connection whatsoever with the automobile dealership in Orange County of the same name.
The Foundation was incorporated in 1969 in the State of California as a part of Fletcher Jones’ estate plan. Fletcher Jones was 39 years old. At the time, he was more engaged in building his business than in focusing on charitable activities. Although he did express some interest in supporting education both at the high school and college level, he never formulated a plan or gave any specific directions with regard to the priorities of his Foundation.
After his death in 1972, the original Trustees of the Foundation decided that support of private colleges and universities in California should be their primary emphasis. That policy has been reaffirmed by subsequent Trustees and continues to this day.
The Fletcher Jones Foundation is governed by a distinguished nine member Board of Trustees drawn from the ranks of business, law, finance, banking, education and government. The Foundation is administered by a two-person staff, based in Pasadena.
